The Arizona Diamondbacks are moving on from one of their veteran pitchers. The Diamondbacks have announced that they have designated pitcher Zack Littell for assignment. In addition, the Diamondbacks shared that pitcher Drey Jamison has been activated from the 15-day injured list.
Littell signed a one-year contract with the Diamondbacks earlier this month after he was designated for assignment and then released by the Washington Nationals. Now, after a brief stint in Arizona, he has been designated for assignment again. Littell made three appearances for the Diamondbacks before being designated for assignment, where he posted a 1-0 record and a 7.50 ERA.
This was after he recorded a 7-8 record, a 4.97 ERA, and 70 strikeouts in 23 appearances for the Nationals before being released. Teams looking for more pitching depth could consider adding Littell. Although he has struggled a bit this season, he had a 3.81 ERA in 32 games split between the Tampa Bay Rays and Cincinnati Reds just last season.
In 260 career MLB games over nine seasons split between the Minnesota Twins, San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, Rays, Reds, Nationals, and Diamondbacks, Littell has posted a 42-37 record, a 4.11 ERA, and 569 strikeouts.
