With Shohei Ohtani being placed on the injured list, the Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up their top prospect. While speaking to reporters, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced that the Dodgers are calling up top prospect Josue De Paula from Double-A Tulsa. In addition, Roberts shared that De Paula will make his MLB debut for the Dodgers on Friday against the Miami Marlins.
De Paula making the jump from Double-A to the MLB level is extremely impressive, and there is no question that he has earned this call-up. The 21-year-old outfielder has dominated with Double-A Tulsa this season, as he has 27 home runs, 37 doubles, 104 RBI, and a .303 batting average in 124 games. With numbers like these, he has shown a ton of promise, so it makes sense that Los Angeles is giving him a chance with Ohtani being injured.
De Paula is the Dodgers' top prospect, so fans are going to be incredibly excited to see what he can do during his first chance at the major league level. If he is able to translate some of what he has done in Double-A to the Dodgers during his call-up, it could help his chances of sticking around on Los Angeles' roster even as they get healthier. Nevertheless, it will be fascinating to see how much of an impact De Paula can make during his call-up to the Dodgers from here.
