The Philadelphia Eagles get worrying news on the status of star wide receiver DeVonta Smith ahead of the team's Week 4 game.

The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to rebound in Week 4 from an embarrassing 27-7 loss where their offense looked lifeless. Unfortunately, that task got much more difficult on paper on Thursday after some worrying news emerged about the looming status of star wide DeVonta Smith in the game. Smith has been one of the lone bright spots on the Eagles offense this season, recording 19 reception for 235 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown through the team's first three games.

Unfortunately for Eagles fans, Smith has also been playing through a hamstring injury that seems to have gotten aggravated during their Week 3 loss to the Bears, which now has his status for Week 4 in grave jeopardy. More news: Mina Kimes Challenges Stephen A Smith’s ‘Double Standard’ for Dak Prescott On Thursday, Eagles beat reporter Tim McManus offered a bit more clarity on Smith's injury in a post on X, detailing that there is "not much optimism" that Smith will be able to play against the Rams on Sunday. More news: Jayden Daniels Gives Update on His Elbow Injury Ahead of Week 4 Considering the Eagles offense is coming off their worst performance of the year and are averaging just 191.7 passing yards per game on the year with Smith active, losing the former Heisman Trophy winner is obviously a devastating loss should he not be able to suit up on Sunday.

Star tight end Dallas Goedert is also not expected to suit up against the Rams due to a lingering knee he suffered in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. So clearly, Jalen Hurts may very well need to form a rapport quickly with rookie wide receiver Makai Lemon and Dontayvion Wicks, who is in his first year in Philadelphia. The Eagles will face off against the Rams on Sunday, October 4, at 1:00 p.m.

EST, which can be viewed by those at home on FOX.
