Clair Obscur Expedition 33 and Daredevil star Charlie Cox is starring in a new video game from Sega, and he's already finished recording it.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox's first foray into video game voice work, and he's already finished up recording his next game. At New York Comic Con on Thursday, Cox told IGN that he'll star in an untitled upcoming game from Sega. Cox was born in London, but his performance as the New York vigilante Matt Murdock is so convincing that the studio was surprised when he showed up for his game recording session.

"I was like, 'Hi guys, nice to meet you! How are you?' And all of them went, 'Oh, he’s English,'" Cox said. "They’d wanted [the character] to be American.

But now I’ve got to do 40 hours of lines I’ve not prepared in an accent. Yeah, I think they thought I was American." The mix-up is somewhat understandable, especially if this team at Sega hasn't played Expedition 33 yet. (They should maybe do so before the RPG leaves Xbox Game Pass.) Cox previously said his role in Expedition 33 took him around four hours to record (writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen later said it was more like eight hours), so based on his 40 hours spent in the booth, it sounds like he has a more central role in this Sega game. Cox said the praise heaped on his Expedition 33 performance made him feel like a "total fraud" given how quickly he recorded his lines for Gustave.

"But I'm so thrilled for the company, I'm so thrilled it did really well," he said at a convention last year. He was nominated for Best Performance at The Game Awards, but said motion-capture actor Maxence Cazorla deserved the credit. "Any nomination or any credit I get, I really have to give to him, because I believe that the performance of that character is really down to him, and my voice was just part of that process," he said.

Cox was at NYCC to promote Daredevil: Born Again's third season, which will also be its last. Premiering next spring, the show will reunite Daredevil with the rest of the Defenders.
