With the WNBA season concluded and playoffs on the way, the Indiana Fever are continuing their push for Caitlin Clark to be named the league's 2026 Most Valuable Player. The Fever unveiled their latest attempt on Friday afternoon, just a day after Clark and the team suffered a brutal blowout loss to the Minnesota Lynx, 86-66. In the crushing loss, Clark had her career-worst scoring performance, finishing with only two points.
However, Indiana took the spotlight off that outing and focused on Clark's overall body of work this season, including some impressive statistical and historic performances. They pointed out that she was third in the league with an average of 22.3 points and second in the league with an average of 8.3 assists per game. She was the only player to rank in the top three in those categories in the league.

She achieved numerous WNBA records in her third season, including the most points scored by a point guard in a single season, and became the first player to tally 800-plus points and 300-plus points in a single season. In addition to becoming the first player to record 45-plus points and 10-plus assists in a WNBA game, the former No. 1 pick earned four Conference Player of the Week Awards and one Conference Player of the Month Award.
Those achievements and accolades are impressive, and Clark is considered one of the contenders for the MVP award, alongside teammate Kelsey Mitchell. However, Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles, and Las Vegas Aces superstar A'ja Wilson are considered stronger contenders. Miles should win Rookie of the Year and also plays for the league's top team, record-wise.
Reigning MVP Wilson has been the frontrunner for MVP down the stretch this season, leading the league in scoring and blocks, and was fifth in rebounding. Unfortunately for the Fever, they finished as the No. 6 seed after their loss to the Lynx, and the Aces are among the top three seeds heading into the playoffs. Interestingly, Las Vegas will face Mitchell, Clark, and the Fever in the first round.
Sometimes, players on a conference's best team will get the nod for MVP. However, earlier this month, the WNBA reported that Wilson was a massive favorite to claim the award at -1400 odds, with Miles at +900. Surprises can happen, and it would definitely be a surprise if Wilson lost.
