Former All-Pro quarterback Russell Wilson predicts Josh Allen will win the MVP this season after a strong Week 1 performance.

Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen got his 2026 season started off on the right foot with a strong performance in a 36-31 victory over the Houston Texans in Week 1. As a result, one former All-Pro quarterback believes that Allen is the man to beat in the MVP race this season. Last season, one of Allen's worst performances of the year came in a Week 12 loss to the Texans, throwing two interceptions and failing to record a single passing touchdown.

Sunday's matchup was an entirely different story. Allen was incredibly sharp, throwing for 334 yards and recording four total touchdowns in a 36-31 victory. "I think he has a definite chance to win it," said Wilson. "I'm calling it out, he's probably gonna win it this year. I think he knows it's time for the Buffalo Bills.

New stadium, it's all things new, new coach. Obviously their coach has been with them, Joe Brady. But I think it's gonna make a difference this year." Allen has not only been a finalist for the MVP award five times in his career, but did previously win the award in 2024 after recording a combined 40 rushing and passing touchdowns. Typically, early season performances can be forgotten about by the time it comes to casting votes for the MVP award. That being said, Allen certainly put himself in a position to build on what was certainly a very impressive start to his 2026 season.

Allen will look to string together another strong performance in Week 2 when the Buffalo Bills host the Detroit Lions on Thursday Night Football.
