The sales company is launching four new TV movies at this year’s Unifrance Rendez-Vous, among them vigilante and espionage thrillers France TV Distribution is presenting four new TV movies, including two female-fronted action thrillers, a light crime drama and a dramedy, at this year’s Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Le Havre, which runs Sept. 7-10. The sales company’s muscular lineup already includes the historical drama “Swapped,” about a young wet nurse in 19th-century Paris forced to secretly swap her child with that of a wealthy woman grieving the sudden loss of her infant, and the high-profile mystery drama “Our Missing Sons.” Of new titles, “Alma,” a vigilante thriller centering on Alice, a young woman shaped by a violent past who channels her rage into boxing and community service, while dedicating her nights to Alma, a safety app she created to protect women from assault. When a serial rapist infiltrates their system, Alice crosses a line: Masked, she tracks down and confronts the attacker.
Her quest for justice turns into a thirst for revenge, putting her friends and her cop girlfriend, who knows nothing about her double life, in danger. Adeline Darraux directs from a script by Gaétane Chevallereau, Bénédicte Bonheur, Marie Bourgeois, Chloé Paye and Camille Pinier. Lyna must get close to Constance, an ordinary student who may well be Gaby’s daughter and his only weakness.
As Lyna bonds with her, the line between duty and personal feelings starts to blur. Directed by Abel Ferry and written by Yann Brion, “The Recruit” stars Kenza Fortas (“Shéhérazade“), Arnaud Binard, Rod Paradot and Lula Cotton-Frapier. With cases piling up, he and colleagues Amara and Basile stand together with humor and compassion in a never-ending struggle.
Directed by Slimane-Baptiste Berhoun and written by Jeanne Le Guillou and Bruno Dega, the movie also stars Léonie Simaga and Clément Deboeur. Now a town hall secretary, Audrey must deal with the suspicious death of a local teacher and soon finds herself caught between family tensions, an out-of-his-depth mayor and a local police officer reluctant to let her investigate. Directed by Laly Perret-Vannucci and written by Stéphanie Kalfon and Olivier Szulzynger, “A Place in the Sun” stars Béatrice de la Boulaye (“Deadly Tropics”), Antoine Hamel and Philippe Duquesne.
