Veteran running back Najee Harris visited the New York Giants for a free-agent workout on Monday, hoping to find his next NFL landing spot. Harris suffered a torn Achilles injury in Week 3 of the 2025 season, ending his first and only season under head coach Jim Harbaugh with the Los Angeles Chargers. John Harbaugh, the Giants' new head coach, was asked about Harris' visit after practice on Monday.
"He's coming back from the Achilles injury with my brother. He looks good in the workout," Harbaugh replied. "He's not back 100%, he's not in football shape yet.
If we are able to do something, it'll be a process. That would be a guy that has a lot of experience. He's a decorated vet." "Based on the workout, I would say we feel like he's got a shot.
We'll just have to see how it goes," Harbaugh concluded. Before landing in Los Angeles, Harris had many AFC North battles against Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens. Through his first four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the former first-round pick surpassed 1,000 yards and six touchdowns in each campaign.
The Giants' running back depth chart is led by Cam Skattebo, who's returning from a gruesome, season-ending leg injury that ended his 2025 rookie season in Week 8. New York will face off against the Miami Dolphins in their next preseason matchup on Saturday.
