The Golden State Warriors agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million contract with veteran forward Georges Niang on Tuesday, according to a report from ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania. Niang missed the entire 2025-26 NBA season after suffering a severe foot injury during offseason training. Now, he's set to return to the court as a Warrior.
Niang began his NBA career as the Indiana Pacers' No. 50 overall pick in the 2016 draft. He's since notched stints with the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Atlanta Hawks. Niang put up the best numbers of his career through 28 games with the Hawks in 2024-25, averaging a career-high 12.1 points per game on 41.3% shooting from behind the 3-point arc.
The 33-year-old veteran is just under 40% shooting from behind the 3-point arc for his career. Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and the Warriors finished 10th in the Western Conference standings this past season, finishing the year with a 37-45 record. Golden State will open up its 2026-27 regular-season schedule with a matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 21.
