Joe Burrow could be headed towards a major accomplishment in his NFL career, if Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner's prediction proves accurate at the end of this season. Burrow, 29, is heading into his seventh season with the Cincinnati Bengals and looking to play more than just eight games as he did in the team's 2025 campaign. According to Warner's prediction, Burrow will win this season's NFL Most Valuable Player award, which he explained while on "The Rich Eisen Show." "We think back a couple years; Joe Burrow led the league in passing yardage and touchdowns and all of that.
He has all his guys back offensively, and I just believe he's going to put up incredible numbers," Warner said. The Hall of Famer said he believed that despite Burrow's previous MVP-worthy season, the Bengals "didn't win enough that year." Burrow finished with multiple career-best numbers in his 2024 season, but the Bengals went just 9-8.
"If the team can come together and win more games this year, I believe the numbers will be there for Joe Burrow to make a case for MVP," Warner said. As of this writing, the Bengals are favored to win under 10.5 games at DraftKings Sportsbook. If that holds true, one has to wonder if a 10-7 season or worse, would be enough for Burrow to claim MVP.
The Los Angeles Rams' Matthew Stafford, 38, was named NFL MVP for the first time in his career after the 2025 NFL season. Stafford threw for 4,707 yards and a career-high 46 touchdowns, also posting a career-high 109.2 passer rating. He led the Rams to a 12-5 record, tying a career-best record he achieved with the Rams in the 2021 NFL season.
The Rams won the Super Bowl that season, even though Stafford was not named MVP. Some individuals have also made bold predictions that the Bengals could represent the AFC in the 2027 Super Bowl. If Burrow stays healthy and proves that the team is among the top contenders this season, he could have a strong case for claiming MVP.
However, they might have to go through potential AFC contenders such as Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, and/or last year's AFC Champion New England Patriots to get there.
