Tuesday's training camp practice for the Cincinnati Bengals featured a concerning sight: superstar wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase limping off the field. Chase landed awkwardly on a deep-ball route and came up grabbing at his left knee, according to a report from team insider Charlie Clifford in Cincinnati. The All-Pro pass catcher was able to walk off the field under his own power, accompanied by Bengals training staff.
Fortunately for the Bengals, this doesn't appear to be a long-term injury. Chase spent a few minutes being evaluated by the Bengals' head trainer before returning to the team's offensive sideline. Chase appeared to be in good spirits while explaining the injury to his teammates on the sideline, according to Clifford.
Chase is the best offensive weapon for the Bengals. Last year, he notched his second consecutive First Team All-Pro selection — reeling in 125 catches for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns through 16 games. The Bengals will open up their regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 13.
