The Chicago Bears acquired All-Pro defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons in a blockbuster trade with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday, bolstering their defensive front with an elite player. Soon after this news broke, several people on social media remembered Simmons' comments about Bears quarterback Caleb Williams from a few years back. Before Williams' NFL debut as the Bears' No. 1 overall pick in 2024, Simmons reportedly made a comment about "knocking the nail polish" off the rookie QB.
I can't wait to say that to him," Simmons said on "The Rich Eisen Show" at the time. "All the hype's gonna be around [the Bears] of course. ... That also make me even talk more smack and boost me up a little more, get into a different mode, as well." It appears there's no hard feelings from Williams, who posted his immediate reaction to the blockbuster trade on Thursday.
"Goodmorning world," the Bears QB wrote on Instagram. The Bears are 5-2 to open up the 2026 NFL season. This coming Monday, they'll face off against the reigning Super Bowl-champion Seattle Seahawks in a primetime Week 8 matchup.
