The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Miami Dolphins by a 31-24 final score in Week 5, but they certainly played a sloppy game. The Bengals came close to blowing the game against the Dolphins, as they allowed Miami to score 14 points in the fourth quarter. Thankfully for the Bengals, they were able to shut the door at the end and improve to a 3-2 record.
While the Bengals picked up the win, Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow expressed clear frustration about the team's play in the game. "We got to be smarter," Burrow said to reporters, including CLNSCincy.com's Mike Petraglia. "Two fumbles in the red zone.
A couple personal fouls that hurt us, hurt our field position, gave them points on the board. Yeah, we got to be smarter... We had some dumb mistakes, and we got to get those fixed if we want to be a great team." It is hard to disagree with Burrow's take here.
The Bengals undoubtedly played a shaky game, and they are fortunate that they were still able to pick up the victory. They may not have been so lucky if they were facing a better team than the Dolphins, who are now 0-5 this season. Burrow and the Bengals will be looking to play a much stronger game when they face the Baltimore Ravens next on Oct. 25.
This will be an important matchup for Cincinnati, as the Ravens are ahead of them in the AFC North.
