The New England Patriots suffered an embarrassing 35-6 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3, and panic is undoubtedly starting to increase in Foxborough. Now, Patriots legend Julian Edelman has weighed in on the team's struggles and specifically sent out a message to struggling quarterback Drake Maye. "Drake Maye looks very uncomfortable," Edelman said.
"You don't wanna kick a man when he's down. I think he needs to take this as an opportunity. This is like his first bit of adversity in his career.
This guy is only in his third year. There's always a little dry spell here and there in everyone's game where they go through confidence issues. He's in one of those right now, but he can use this for the future." Edelman then called out the Patriots for their lack of confidence early on this season.
"They haven't looked right on offense all year," Edelman said. "It's super early in the year, so I think that they can turn this around... They don't have confidence right now.
They're going to have to find it asap because it's only going to get harder." It is hard to disagree with Edelman's take here. The Patriots have undoubtedly looked shaky throughout this season, and this has especially been the case with Maye. Yet, they now have a golden opportunity in Week 4 against the Buffalo Bills to try to get things back on track.
It will be interesting to see if the Patriots can respond after being called out by Edelman. A win against Buffalo would undoubtedly be huge.
