They are grateful to the security and law enforcement personnel who responded swiftly.” Los Angeles county sheriff’s deputies were sent to Harris’s home around 10.30pm that Friday night, after private security had stopped the individual.
The individual was asked to leave, and no arrests were made. The incident was originally reported by TMZ. Vice-presidents in the US typically receive six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office.
Former president Joe Biden extended Harris’s security detail to 18 months before leaving office. That extension was canceled in August 2025 by Donald Trump. Ex-presidents typically receive security protection for life.
Harris bought the home in the Point Dume area of Malibu for $8.1m this May, which prompted speculation that she would not run for president again. The celebrity studded retreat is typically seen as a place where people “downshift”, according to a Politico article at the time.
