Police were called to former Vice President Kamala Harris’s home in Malibu after a woman reportedly trespassed onto the property uninvited, according to local reports. A spokesperson for Harris reportedly confirmed to TMZ that the former vice president's security "stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman [Doug] Emhoff's property before the individual reached the home." The spokesperson said that neither Harris nor Emhoff were at the residence at the time of the incident. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department told the outlet that the incident happened around 10:30 pm at the former vice president's home.
The LA Times further confirmed that report. The woman who trespassed on the property agreed to leave voluntarily. She was not arrested, according to the LA Times and TMZ, citing law enforcement.
Harris and Emhoff bought their Malibu home sometime within the last year. The house reportedly costs more than $8 million. It's not the first time the former vice president and her husband have had unwanted visitors approach their homes.
In January 2025, two individuals were detained during curfew hours at Harris's former home in Brentwood following reports of a possible burglary, according to KTLA. The curfew was in effect due to the Palisades and Eaton fires, which were ravaging the city at the time. Neither of the individuals was arrested and no evidence was found suggesting they had committed any crimes.
