Through three games, reigning Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba is off to another impressive start with the Seattle Seahawks. The team hasn't had a perfect start, including a surprising loss last weekend as Sam Darnold returned from an early-season injury but couldn't defeat the Washington Commanders in Week 3. Still, at 2-1, Seattle is right in the early hunt to claim the division again, and JSN's performance could be a big reason why.
Heading into this season, he was ranked No. 5 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026 based on his performance last season. While speaking about JSN on her "Up & Adams" show, sports personality Kay Adams shared a surprising prediction about what the Seahawks Pro Bowler could achieve this season. "JSN is going to win Offensive Player of the Year again.
This start that he is off to right now is obscene," Adams said. "You can't argue with me on him being the best receiver. He's doing this guys with two different quarterbacks." She said if he wins the award again, he'll join the multiple-time Offensive Player of the Year club. There's only one Hall of Fame receiver in that group: San Francisco 49ers legend Jerry Rice. JSN could join this exclusive club at 24, and Adams shared that Rice didn't claim his second OPOY until he was 31.
"The second club that JSN is entering is the back-to-back OPOY club: Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk, Hall of Famer Earl Campbell. That's it; it is a club of two, and there's a table for JSN waiting," Adams said. In the Seahawks' three games, Smith-Njigba has racked up 405 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 27 receptions.
He currently leads the NFL in receiving yards and touchdowns and is tied for the lead in receptions. Some may see Adams' prediction as premature due to how early it is in the season, and there are other players, such as Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who could be included in the conversation for OPOY. Gibbs achieved 164 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in his team's Week 3 win over the New York Jets.
