The Seahawks didn't get the result they were hoping for on Sunday, falling in a disappointing 33-31 upset loss to the Washington Commanders.
However, this was to no fault of Smith-Njigba, who hauled in ten receptions for 128 yards and two receiving touchdowns in the game. In every game for the Seahawks this season, Smith-Njigba has both found the end zone at least once and broken 100 receiving yards, which is arguably the greatest first three games of any season for a wide receiver in the 21st century. McCarthy Makes Unwanted History With Trade According to Brady Henderson, who covers the Seahawks for ESPN, Smith-Njigba is the lone player in the 21st century to record at least 400 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns through the first three games of a season.
The last person to accomplish this feat was former Indianapolis Colts star Marvin Harrison, who did so in 1999. Notably, backup quarterback Drew Lock has actually seen most of the action under center in Seattle this season after Sam Darnold suffered a hip injury in the first quarter of the team's season-opening game, which he returned from in Week 3.
It sure seems quite clear that Smith-Njigba is talented enough to produce whatever kinds of circumstances he and the Seahawks offense will face.
