Kyle Juszczyk kept poking fun at the NFL after getting fined for "engaging in offensive demonstrations." The league fined Juszczyk $14,926 last week, claiming the San Francisco 49ers fullback pretended to chug a beer following a catch in a Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins. With help from the Kelce brothers, he questioned the NFL's curious penalty on the New Heights podcast. Juszczyk's appearance began with a satirical "Sports Victims Unit" graphic spoofing "Law & Order." The 10-time Pro Bowler drank out of a jug labeled "Not Beer" before Jason jokingly asked, "How dare you?" The 35-year-old facetiously called himself a "monster" before again explaining that he wasn't even imitating a beer chug.
"I've been doing this celebration at least seven years, maybe more. I feel like I might have even done it in college once," Juszczyk said. "My nickname for the longest time has been Juice.
I have literally a juice box on my thigh pad. The whole stadium yells, 'Juuuuice' when I touch the ball. An homage to that is I drink juice, and that's been going down for the longest time.
"But for whatever reason, this past week it was out of line." Even if he was pantomiming beer drinking, Juszczyk wondered how the NFL could consider that an offensive gesture while constantly advertising alcohol. "You can't drink juice when you got the Bud Light patio in the end zone," Juszczyk joked. "When you're cutting through the Bud Light Celly Cam.
It's hypocrisy, man." "Hypocrisy at the highest level," Jason Kelce concurred. Although he still doesn't understand the issue, Juszczyk noted that the NFL could have simply asked him to stop before fining him. "Also, I don't need a $15,000 fine to make me stop doing something," he said.
"Hey, why don't you just reach out to me and be like, 'Hey, you know, maybe don't do that.' This is a whole different thing, though, because even if this was beer, what's the problem?" As Juszczyk playfully alluded to, nobody from the NFL seemed too concerned by a shirtless Jason Kelce chugging a beer while watching Travis Kelce's Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs two years ago. "I wouldn't be surprised if, after I scored, they cut to Jason jumping through a table in Buffalo and then chugging a beer right after," Juszczyk said. "That's a realistic thing that probably happened."
