LSU rebounded in a big way Saturday night, blowing out Texas A&M 35-6 at Tiger Stadium. The offense racked up 506 total yards, and the defense held the Aggies to just 197 yards and just two field goals. That's the win Lane Kiffin needed after falling to Ole Miss, his former team, in Oxford a week ago.
But it wasn't all good news coming out of Baton Rouge. According to On3's Pete Nakos and Wilson Alexander, LSU star defender Whit Weeks suffered a fracture in his right leg during the Texas A&M game, with no timetable yet for when the All-SEC linebacker will return. Weeks is arguably their best defensive player and the face of the program, now entering his fourth season at LSU. He committed to the Tigers in July 2022 as a four-star prospect and one of the top-ranked linebackers in the 2023 class, choosing LSU over offers from Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and others. His best season came in 2024, his first as a starter, when he racked up 125 combined tackles, including an SEC-leading 61 solo tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and one interception across 13 games, earning first-team All-SEC honors.
He was having another strong season last year but missed the final five games due to a right ankle injury that lingered from his breakout campaign. Weeks came into this season fully healthy and as one of the team's leaders and defensive captains, but now, he is set to miss games again due to injury. Through the first four games, he had posted 24 combined tackles, including 11 solo tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and one pass breakup.

After falling to the Rebels, the Tigers are already up against it to make the College Football Playoff, and now they've lost one of their best players.
