The Seattle Mariners are going to be without one of their infielders for at least a week. According to MLB.com's Daniel Kramer, the Mariners are placing infielder Brendan Donovan on the seven-day concussion injured list after getting injured in the batting cage. In addition, Kramer shared that Patrick Wisdom is being called up to the Mariners' roster from Triple-A Tacoma.
With the Mariners fighting to climb up the American League West standings, it is certainly tough news that Donovan is going to be sidelined. However, Seattle will now need to adjust with the infielder being out of action. Donovan has been limited to just 39 games this season, where he has recorded three home runs, 15 RBI, and a .277 batting average.
This is after he posted 10 home runs, 50 RBI, and a .287 batting average in 118 games during this past season as an All-Star with the St. In 531 career MLB games over five seasons split between the Cardinals and Mariners, Donovan has posted 43 home runs, 217 RBI, and a .282 batting average. Here's to hoping that the 5-foot-11 infielder will get the chance to improve upon these career stats soon and will not need to miss more time than these next seven days.
