Micah Parsons Gives Interesting Update on His Mentality With His Injury

Micah Parsons hasn't been cleared to return from the torn ACL injury he suffered last December.

Micah Parsons has been out since Dec. 14, 2025 when he tore his ACL and MCL in a game with the Green Bay Packers against the Denver Broncos. There was hope he'd be able to play early in the 2026 season, but so far, he hasn't been cleared through six games. Parsons said on this week's episode of his podcast "The Edge with Micah Parsons" that he wants to feel 100% before getting back on the field.

Apparently, he isn't there yet. He'll be missing a reunion game against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, this weekend. However, he offered an interesting perspective about how he feels in his recovery journey.

If this weekend was the Super Bowl, he said, he'd make sure he was out there playing. "The biggest thing that people worried about with me, they're like, 'Man, why ain't he back yet?'" Parsons said. "If the Super Bowl was this week, I'm playing in the Super Bowl.

But it's just about me making sure I have all the small things fixed first. What a lot of people don't figure out is it's not just the ACL. It's like, why did the ACL happen?

Because it all works together. And throughout the history of ACL, they notice if you come back early, there tends to be an overcompensation injury on the other side." Parsons is essentially saying that he doesn't want to rush his comeback before addressing other weaknesses that may have contributed to the injury. He explained that returning too early could lead to compensatory injuries elsewhere in the body, particularly on the opposite side, as he works to ensure his body is ready for a full return to play.

However, if it was the final game of the season, and the Super Bowl at that, he would take that risk because he knows he'd have time off immediately after. He essentially doesn't want to come back too early now when it's still towards the beginning of the season. The edge rusher is still waiting to be medically cleared to even be able to make his 2026 season debut.
