The Walt Disney Company inducted 11 people into the 2026 class of Disney Legends on Sunday. One of those people is new Los Angeles Lakers owner, Bob Iger. Thanks to the extraordinary talent behind them, they continue to push boundaries of creativity and innovation, open new worlds, and show us what’s possible,” CEO Josh D’Amaro said before introducing the new inductees.
Before agreeing to buy the Lakers earlier this week, Iger served as the Disney's chief executive officer twice. His first stint as CEO was from 2005-2020. During that time, Iger helped Disney land several multi-billion dollar acquisitions, such as Pixar (2006), Marvel (2009), Lucasfilm (2012), and 21st Century Fox (2019).
He also led the opening of Shanghai Disneyland in 2016 and helped launch Disney+ in 2019. After a two-year hiatus, Iger returned to his role as Disney's CEO in 2022. Then, in March, D'Amaro officially took over as the company's new CEO.
