The Florida Panthers are set to face off against the Anaheim Ducks for the third game of their season on Sunday. The Panthers will be looking to bounce back against the Ducks after losing their most recent game in overtime to the San Jose Sharks. Now, as the Panthers prepare for their next contest against the Ducks, they have announced some big news regarding star winger Brad Marchand.
While speaking with team reporter Jameson Olive, Panthers head coach Paul Maurice shared that Marchand is returning to the club's lineup against Anaheim. Marchand returning is major news for the Panthers. The 38-year-old forward has not played a game for Florida since their March 6 matchup against the Detroit Red Wings last season.
Now, after undergoing offseason surgery, the veteran forward is ready to begin his 18th NHL season. While Marchand missed a decent chunk of last season, he was excellent for the Panthers when healthy. In 52 games with Florida this past season, he posted 27 goals and 54 points.
Now, the 2006 third-round pick will be aiming to start the season on the right foot against the Ducks.
