Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 15 of the Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 season. Now several months later, the superstar quarterback is prepared to take the field for his team's season-opening matchup against the Denver Broncos. When speaking to reporters on Thursday, Mahomes fielded several questions regarding the status of his surgically-repaired knee.
The veteran signal caller said he will wear a knee brace when he takes the field on Monday night, and hopes to continue his aggressive play style while also protecting his health. Mahomes ended his press conference with a blunt response to this seemingly never-ending line of questioning. "This has always been the goal," Mahomes said of playing in Week 1, via team insider Charles Goldman.
"A long offseason, a lot of work. But now I get to go out there and play the game I love. Great environment, great opponent, and now I get to go out there and be myself." "I've built up the strength.
I am going to keep myself out of harm's way, like I always will," Mahomes added. That's how I always roll and how I always will roll for the rest of my career." Monday's Chiefs-Broncos matchup will kickoff at 8:15 p.m.
