In the Dublin band Lankum, singer Radie Peat turns folk music into something stark and ominous. Now, she's doing the same thing on her own. Peat will release her debut solo album No Human Tongue Can Tell next month, and we've posted her singles "Still I Love Him" and "The Moon And Stars," the latter of which was Stereogum's #1 song of the week that it was released.

Yesterday, Peat followed up by sharing the album's opening track. Peat starts No Human Tongue Can Tell off with her version of "Hares On The Mountain," a traditional English folk song most famously recorded by Shirley Collins. It makes a great showcase for Peat's steely, unearthly voice and for the doom-laden arrangements that she favors.

This sounds like the last thing that you hear before a ghostly druid steals your soul. No Human Tongue Can Tell is out 11/13 on Rough Trade.
