There's only a few days left until NFL teams have to settle on their 53-man rosters for the season, but one team is having to do double duty. The deadline is Aug. 30, and by the end of this week, the Los Angeles Rams will have to make roster decisions, which will be made a bit more difficult by what they don't know. The big question is if former Ram Aaron Donald plans to undo his retirement and join the team for another campaign.
Ever since the team announced they'd traded for star pass rusher Myles Garrett, the idea of pairing him with the future Hall of Famer Donald has intrigued the football world — and the Rams themselves. So now, given Donald's interest in the possibility, they have to account for his possible return to an active playing career. As reported by Benjamin Royer of the Orange County Register, the Rams are preparing for the two possibilities: Donald's return, or him not coming back at all.
"As of Tuesday, there are still no updates for when Donald will come to a decision on returning to the NFL more than two years after retiring," Royer wrote. "McVay said the team has plans for a final 53-man roster with and without Donald, and that he hasn’t thought about what a possibility of Donald returning after the Rams’ Sept. 10 season opener in Melbourne against the San Francisco 49ers would look like." If Donald does want to play, him suiting up in Australia, of course, depends on whether he's ready.
