General manager Eric DeCosta offered a telling update on Wednesday on where things stand, saying he's "optimistic" and "feels good" about getting an extension done before March of next year. Right now, the highest-paid quarterback in the league is Patrick Mahomes, with an annual average salary of around $63 million.
Jackson is still just 29 years old, and his market value already sits above that mark at $64.3 million per year, according to Spotrac — meaning a new deal could make him the highest-paid player in the league.
