The New York Giants suffered a significant loss early this season when quarterback Jaxson Dart was potentially lost for the season due to his injury against the Los Angeles Rams. With that news, it seems everybody is being considered as someone the Giants might call for help. That includes online jokes or pleas for former Giants quarterbacks Eli Manning and Russell Wilson to return and take on the starting job.
There's even been joking about finding a way to get former Giants QB Tommy DeVito back on the roster to see if he can salvage things. Meanwhile, former four-time Pro Bowl QB Derek Carr, who retired last year, has recently been suggested as an option. On Tuesday, an X post from MLFootball asked if the Giants should get Carr to make an NFL comeback and see if he can take over while Dart is unable to suit up.

After being selected No. 36 in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft, Carr played most of his career with the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders, where he became a four-time Pro Bowl selection. In 2021, he recorded some of his career-best numbers, including completing 428 of 626 passes for 4,804 passing yards.
Carr spent the final two seasons of his NFL career with the New Orleans Saints. He only reached the postseason twice in his career, both times with the Raiders, and went 0-1 in the one game he played. Meanwhile, the Giants were dealt the worst luck after last season's injuries to wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cam Skattebo.
With both players finally healthy to begin this season, they've now lost their starting quarterback just two games in. Earlier on Wednesday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Dart is done for the season and will undergo surgery for his knee injury. According to ESPN, his injury included damage to his meniscus, MCL, and PCL.
Dart suffered the injury in his team's Week 2 "Monday Night Football" game against the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter, after two Rams defenders collided with him. It's worth noting that Carr was sacked 303 times in the regular season and three times in his one playoff game. Based on his response to the Giants' situation, Carr seems to now favor playing video games over getting hit in real-life football games.
