The New Orleans Saints were blown out by the division-rival Atlanta Falcons in primetime on Monday night, surrendering a 45-24 final score at Caesars Superdome. During ESPN's "Monday Night Football" broadcast, analyst Troy Aikman got fans talking with a pointed comment directed at Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley. "Brandon Staley just doesn't have any answers [for the Falcons offense].
And I think he knew it when he talked to us," Aikman said of he and Joe Buck's interview with Staley earlier in the week. Staley was asked about this comment when speaking to reporters on Thursday. "It was a tough night for us.
And certainly, I'm responsible," the DC continued. "We've got the right guys to bounce back. That's what we're going to focus on." Falcons running back Bijan Robinson rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns against the Saints defense.
Once the game got out of hand, the Falcons handed the reins over to backup running back Brian Robinson Jr. — who rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns of his own. The Saints rank dead last in points allowed per game with 32. This coming Sunday, Staley and the New Orleans defense will look to get back on track in a Week 5 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.
