The Philadelphia Eagles suffered their sixth straight loss of the season, falling 27-10 in "Sunday Night Football" to the Washington Commanders. Amid this disappointing season, speculation has swirled about potential moves the Eagles might make to reshape their roster. One of the names mentioned in some of the trade rumors has been star running back Saquon Barkley.
Following Sunday night's loss, Barkley was asked if the front office had mentioned to him that he'd remain with the team past the upcoming trade deadline. "It was mentioned to me," Barkley said, adding, "I really didn't read much into it. You see the tweets and all that.
I have nothing but respect for this organization, like top to bottom. I really do think they do things the right way. It's an honor and a privilege to go out there and play for this organization.

"It's not just one person. It's gonna take a whole bunch of us," Barkley said in a clip shared by PHLY Sports reporter EJ Smith.
On Sunday, ESPN's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported via sources that the Eagles don't plan to trade Barkley before the deadline. Their report mentioned that general manager Howie Roseman was "surveying the market" with regards to potentially trading other players for "draft compensation." Barkley signed with the Eagles in 2024 after previously spending the first part of his career with the New York Giants. He had a breakout 2024 season, culminating in a Super Bowl ring.
However, this season has brought injury issues and struggles for a Philadelphia team that has had difficulty winning games. After Sunday night's loss, he also told reporters he would "love" to remain part of the organization and that he planned on being there despite the team's struggles. "I'm not one of those guys that's like, 'I don't like the way the season's going, let's just jump ship,'" he said, "Right now we have a problem we gotta fix, and hopefully I can be one of the reasons why we fix it." In Sunday night's loss, Barkley had 13 carries for 30 yards as he continues to navigate injury woes.
