Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Moved to New Low Security Prison: What We Know

Sean 'Diddy' Combs moves from Fort Dix to a low-security Pennsylvania prison as his federal appeal continues.

The Bureau of Prisons confirmed Friday that Sean “Diddy” Combs has been transferred from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey to FCI Allenwood Low, a federal prison in Pennsylvania. The move follows scrutiny of his treatment and conduct at Fort Dix, though federal officials have not disclosed what prompted it. Combs will remain in a low-security setting as he serves his 50-month sentence and awaits a ruling on his appeal.

The Bureau of Prisons confirmed Combs’ new location but said privacy and security rules prevented the agency from discussing the circumstances behind an individual prisoner’s placement. FCI Allenwood Low is south of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and approximately 155 miles west of New York City, according to The . Federal officials have not identified a reason for moving Combs.

The transfer came after NBC News published allegations that he had obtained prohibited items at Fort Dix and paid other prisoners to handle chores, prepare meals and provide other services. His spokesperson characterized the attention given to his daily life in prison as excessive and said Combs was continuing to serve his sentence while awaiting the outcome of his appeal. The AP reported that Combs was placed in Fort Dix’s special housing unit after the NBC investigation and lost 41 days of good-conduct credit, moving his projected release date to March 2, 2028.

Special housing separates prisoners from the general population and may be used for disciplinary or security reasons. Reports about a separate incident at Fort Dix remain disputed. TMZ reported that Combs received outside medical treatment after being injured in an altercation, but the Bureau of Prisons told the AP that the claimed fight did not occur.

Earlier reporting said Combs was conscious and communicating when he returned to the prison, while his representative said the team was trying to establish what happened at the time. Both FCI Allenwood Low and FCI Fort Dix are low-security federal institutions for male prisoners, so Combs’ transfer does not represent a formal move to a higher security classification. Allenwood is part of a federal correctional complex in Union County, Pennsylvania, while Fort Dix operates on the grounds of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Burlington County, New Jersey.

The most significant difference is scale. Fort Dix houses roughly 4,000 prisoners, while Allenwood Low holds about 1,000, according to reports citing federal prison information. The Pennsylvania facility is therefore considerably smaller, but the Bureau of Prisons has not said whether its size influenced the decision to place Combs there.
