Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz are teaming up to compete in the US Open Mixed Doubles Championship. The event will take place from Aug. 25-26 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing, New York. Tennis Association announced Williams and Alcaraz received a wild card into the tournament.
The main draw for mixed doubles begins on Tuesday. This will be the first time Williams is competing in the US Open since 2022. Back in June, Williams returned to tennis in the doubles event at the HSBC Championships at the Queen's Club in London.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion had not competed professionally in nearly three years. Alcaraz announced on social media on Thursday that he would be competing in the US Open this year. He is defending his US Open singles title.
Alcaraz has been out since April with a right wrist injury.
