The next, you’re facing down 600 pounds of muscle, tooth, and claw. If you’re unlucky enough to surprise a grizzly bear, you need a totally effective, easy-to-use deterrent—and you need it now. Hunters, hikers, backpackers, and campers all run the risk of a dangerous wildlife encounter, making a high-quality animal deterrent as essential as drinking water.
Every canister of SABRE Frontiersman MAX Bear and Mountain Lion Spray is meticulously engineered and tested in-house to ensure you’re prepared when your life depends on it. Bear spray is a proven defense against a charging bear or mountain lion, and SABRE’s products are among the strongest, most protective options on the market. The formula contains 2 percent major capsaicinoids, the maximum concentration permitted by the EPA, and each batch undergoes rigorous high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) testing to verify its consistency, heat, and strength.
Plus, its 40-foot spray range is one of the farthest available, and each canister produces a six-foot-wide cloud of animal-stopping spray. Choose between two sizes: the 9.2-ounce can that sprays continuously for seven to eight seconds or the more compact 7.9-ounce can with a six-to-seven-second spray duration. SABRE Frontiersman MAX Bear and Mountain Lion Spray also features a glow-in-the-dark safety wedge so you can quickly find it in a dark tent or campsite.
And it’s the only brand EPA-certified to protect against nine species: bears and mountain lions, as well as moose, coyotes, feral dogs, bison, wild boars, possums, and raccoons, for total peace of mind in the backcountry. Of course, bear spray only works if you can reach it within seconds. SABRE offers several smart solutions for easy access.
The Nylon Belt Holster holds the canister right at your waist and fits both spray sizes. There’s no closure to fiddle with, so it’s simple to grab and deploy; snug elastic ensures the canister stays put until you need it. And for those times when a backpack or jacket blocks belt access, the Nylon Chest Holster secures the canister at your chest with adjustable straps for the perfect fit.
Successfully defending yourself from a dangerous animal encounter requires a quick response and steady hand—a challenge in the heat of the moment. That’s why SABRE also offers Frontiersman MAX 7.9-ounce Practice Bear & Mountain Lion Spray. Designed exactly like its flagship deterrent but filled with inert gas, the practice spray lets you build confidence and muscle memory before the real deal.
