Wedge Heel Boots Are Trending for Fall and Winter—Zara’s Suede Pair Is the Chicest One I’ve Seen

2010 called, and I answered.

Just the thought of wearing heels makes my feet scream out in pain. The pressure on the balls of my feet, the pinching of my toes, the unsteadiness as I balance on the thinnest of thin heels—not that a block heel is much better. But, clocking in at a petite 5'4", it’s a sad reality in my life that sometimes a pair of heels is a necessity, if only to combat trailing trouser hems.

Luckily, boot season is brewing, and the Fall/Winter 2026 shoe trends have provided the perfect solution in the form of the wedge heel boot, a natural continuation of the sculptural wedge heel shapes that were popular during the spring and summer. The look can actually be traced even further back to last year’s autumn/winter 2025 runways, where Balmain made a strong case for the heel shape in both ankle and knee-high varieties, with slouchy silhouettes that pooled around the ankle alongside statement-making animal print iterations. Naturally, the trickle-down effect has arrived on the high street, most notably with Zara's split suede wedge ankle boots.

In a super wearable camel brown colourway and crafted in genuine suede leather, the boots consist of a slouchy shaft that hits right at the mid-calf, complete with a not-too-high wedge heel. A razor-sharp, elongated pointed toe modernises the design that would otherwise run the risk of looking dated. I’d style these with either slim jeans tucked in or with bootcut jeans and cropped denim to best show off the wedge heel and gathered leg detailing.

And these are more chic wedge boots I’m loving right now. Shop them here: Alexandria Dale is the Digital Fashion Writer at Cosmopolitan UK.
