The renewal will take the hit show through its eighth season. The super-sized renewal comes after the series scored seven wins at this year’s Emmys Awards, including outstanding reality competition program and outstanding host for a reality or reality competition program for Alan Cumming. This marked Cumming’s and the show’s third consecutive wins in the categories.

The series aired its fourth season earlier this year, with a fifth season set to debut on Peacock in 2027. Per Peacock and Nielsen data, the fourth season was the show’s biggest to date, with viewership up 72% over Season 3. In the series, players are whisked away to a castle deep in the Scottish Highlands, where they must complete tasks and challenges to build up the prize fund.

But hidden among them are the Traitors, whose goal is to eliminate the Faithful from the game and claim the money for themselves. The Traitors “murder” the Faithful as the game goes on, with the Faithful attempting to unmask the Traitors before its too late. NBCUniversal is already working to expand the franchise, with the new series “The Traitors: New Blood” set to debut on NBC on Sept. 17 at 8 p.m.

Episodes will stream the next day on Peacock. The format was devised by IDTV and RTL. Cumming is an executive producer in addition to hosting.

Stephen Lambert, Mike Cotton, Sam Rees-Jones, Rosie Franks, Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, and Darrell Olsen also executive produce.
