A male suspect was still on the run after smashing a showcase housing the timepieces and stealing the merchandise in an incident that took just about 10 seconds.

Four luxury watches worth a total of ¥200 million were stolen from a store at a shopping complex in Tokyo’s Nakano Ward on Tuesday, with the ordeal taking about 10 seconds, NHK reported. A suspect was still on the run. The incident began when a man smashed the showcase housing the expensive foreign-brand watches with a hammer and grabbed the merchandise, before running away.

The store is located in the Nakano Broadway shopping complex, about 400 meters north of Nakano Station on the Chuo Line. Police were hunting for the suspect as well as another man — a potential accomplice — who was with the suspect when he bolted, NHK said.
