A young NFL coordinator is turning heads as a potential head coaching candidate. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler identified Declan Doyle as an assistant earning interviews for a head coaching gig. The Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator is making a name for himself in his new role.
"He has brought new elements to the Baltimore attack, and Lamar Jackson seems to really enjoy playing for him," Fowler wrote. "Word is that Doyle was highly impressive on the OC interview trail a year ago, not only in Baltimore but in Philadelphia, too. The league is always looking for ascending offensive minds to help build with a young quarterback, and the 30-year-old Doyle fits that mold.
He has the poised demeanor to be a head coach." Doyle helped the Chicago Bears make the playoffs last season before joining Jesse Minter's Ravens staff this offseason. Four weeks into the 2026 season, they're fifth in total offense and averaging 29.0 points per game. Jackson has masterfully operated Doyle's offense, posting a 119.6 quarterback rating with a 70.8% completion rate and 10.1 yards per pass attempt.
The 29-year-old could be a favorite to win his third MVP award if not for an ankle injury threatening to cost him time. The Ravens may turn to Tyler Huntley for Sunday night's game against the Atlanta Falcons after Jackson missed Wednesday's practice. That would be a significant test for Doyle, but maintaining a steady offense without the star quarterback could make him an even more popular name to monitor as a future head coach.
Fowler also believes teams will pay attention to Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Brad Idzik with Bryce Young leading the NFL in passing yards. Additionally, he expects Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski and defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile to draw interest.
