This time, the case of brothers – one of whom is only 14 years old – accused of killing their stepfather causes instant polarisation. Debates around nature and nurture and punishment for its own sake emerge straight away.

With no eliminations last time, the six teams gather in St Andrews to tackle their latest challenge: smoothing a beach into something that evokes the beauty and motion of the ocean. Graeme Virtue A deerstalker fit for Sherlock Holmes; an outfit for a grownup Matilda made out of old school uniforms; a made-to-measure Regency dress inspired by the world of Jane Austen – it can only be literary icons week in the sewing competition.

Hollie Richardson 9pm, BBC One This week, the competitors include plum-voiced prankster Max Fosh, who does lots of unintentional Partridge (“Bosh!”); Una from the Saturdays, who likes to talk about potatoes; and Paralympian Lauren Steadman, who says she forces everyone she cooks for to give her marks out of 10 for the food. Priya Elan 9pm, Channel 5The excellent Jason Watkins returns as embattled former detective Huw Miller in the second series of this somewhat hysterical thriller.
Huw and his wife, Alice, have retired to a remote coastal home, but the past hasn’t left them behind as letters start to arrive from Robson Green’s imprisoned serial killer, Patrick Harbottle. PH It’s the concluding double bill of this deeply moving drama about the Sixties Scoop in Canada, when Indigenous children were taken from their families. After reuniting with her twin brother, Esther/Bezhig receives tragic news in the finale – and it brings the Birds back together after so many years.
