On Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told reporters that Patrick Mahomes will start Monday night's Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos barring any setbacks. Mahomes tore his ACL and LCL in Week 15 of the 2025 season, but has since made a full recovery as his team gears up for their season-opening clash. "There's a pretty good chance Patrick will go ahead and start, unless something were to come up here in the next couple days," Reid said.
"Most likely, he'll be the guy out there. Other than having a brace on his leg, everything looks normal. He's running around the same way he's always done.
I think he'll be fine there." This news sparked reactions from prominent figures around the NFL world, including Tyreek Hill. "Different man," Hill said of his former quarterback. Hill spent the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Chiefs, developing an elite connection with Mahomes.
He made his way to Miami before the 2022 season, where he played each of his last four campaigns with the Dolphins. Hill suffered a devastating leg injury in Week 4 of the 2025 season. He was released by the Dolphins earlier this offseason and has yet to find a new NFL home.
