The White House has launched a new arcade game website where users can build the border wall and make school meals that follow President Donald Trump’s “Make America Healthy Again” movement. Earlier this year, the Trump administration faced pushback when it shared compilation videos of airstrikes against Iran mixed with clips of popular movies like Top Gun and video games like Grand Theft Auto on social media. Now, the administration is doubling down on the gamification of serious issues like immigration with five arcade games promoting Trump’s agenda.
The White House announced the new games Thursday in an X post that read, “Can’t stop winning.” The games are on the official White House website, usually where the public can find press releases about what’s happening in Washington, livestreams of Oval Office events and Trump’s executive orders. Here’s a look at each game offered on the site: “Flappy Bill” is seemingly inspired by the game “Flappy Bird,” which went viral in the 2010s. Players need to keep the bill the Bald Eagle is holding in the air while flying through Washington’s monuments.
In “Build The Wall,” players need to “protect the border from the coming horde,” according to the game’s description. The Tetris-esque game has players position colorful blocks to block alien-looking pixelated creatures from getting through the wall. In “Supply Line,” players sort school lunch foods to “Make America Healthy Again.” The foods are on a conveyor belt, and players must knock off the ones with seed oils, colorings, additives and those that are sealed in packaging.
The goal of “Trump Savings Tycoon” is to fill kids’ “Trump Accounts” based on the president’s child investment accounts. Players have to swing a net to catch all the money being thrown at them. The arcade has seen some mixed reactions, with several people on social media taking issue with the administration making games out of life-altering matters.
The post included a screenshot of a February article by The Independent’s Alex Woodward about reports of staff at a Texas detention center calling 911 to report children with severe fever, broken bones, respiratory distress, seizures, plunging oxygen levels and other medical emergencies. Absolutely embarrassing!” another X user wrote. But some X users were excited about the games, with one calling it “a hoot.” “This White House is AWESOM [sic],” another user wrote. There is a spot on the arcade’s webpage for a sixth game that reads, “Coming soon...A new adventure awaits.” The Independent has reached out to the White House for comment.
