The New York Yankees play Game 1 of the ALDS against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. The Yankees are entering this series with momentum, as they dominated the Boston Red Sox in their AL Wild Card series. Now, the Yankees will be looking to stay hot by picking up a victory in Game 1 against the Rays.
However, as the Yankees prepare for their series against the Rays, they have now provided a bad update regarding superstar slugger Aaron Judge. The Yankees announced that Judge is officially not on their 26-man ALDS roster. With this, Judge will not be available for the Yankees against the Rays.
This is just brutal news for the Yankees. There was hope that Judge would be good to return for their series against the Rays, but with this update, that will not come to fruition. Judge has not played for the Yankees since their Sep. 16 game against the Minnesota Twins due to a calf injury.
This was shortly after he returned from missing over three months of action due to a right rib stress fracture. Alas, the Yankees will now need to rely on their other hitters with Judge officially not on their ALDS roster. It will be intriguing to see if the Yankees can beat the Rays without Judge from here.
