Can AfD form Germany’s first far-right state government since World War II? Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) is projected to win a regional election in Saxony-Anhalt with around 44 per cent of the vote, more than double its result five years ago. However, the party faces an uphill battle to form a state government, as other major parties have ruled out working with it.
