Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes traveled to Northwestern to face off against the Wildcats and fell 41-7. Northwestern came in as only 3.5-point favorites, and Colorado entered undefeated through the first two weeks of the college football season, highlighted by a 14-13 upset win over Georgia Tech in Week 1.

After the upset over Georgia Tech, on the road mind you, they demolished Weber State 52-21. In that game, Julian Lewis exploded for 366 yards and four touchdowns with zero interceptions, completing 17 of 23 passes along with one rushing touchdown.
Junior running back Micah Welch went for 106 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries, while top wideouts Joseph Williams and DeAndre Moore both went for over 100 yards receiving. We saw none of that against Northwestern. Lewis finished just 19 of 29 for 168 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions, and the offense gave up four total turnovers.
The Wildcats put up 423 total yards to the Buffs' 348, and the game was never close.
