The Buffalo Bills opened their 2026 season with a dramatic 36-31 win over the Texans in Houston on Sunday. The two AFC heavyweights traded blows all day before Josh Allen put the Bills ahead late with a 34-yard bomb to Josh Palmer. Greg Rousseau sacked C.J.
Stroud on the other end, forcing a fumble recovered by Terrel Bernard to end the game. But if you're a Bills fan, one of the biggest takeaways from the game was Allen's connection with DJ Moore, whom the Bills traded for in March from Chicago. Moore hauled in five catches for 100 yards and a touchdown, and led the team with eight total targets, including what would have been a 46-yard touchdown strike.
It was instead flagged in the end zone for pass interference, setting up a rushing touchdown from Allen. After the game, Moore sent a strong message about what's to come for him in Buffalo. "This is a preview," Moore said.

The Bills got outscored in the fourth quarter, having to play from behind late in the game. But grinding out a gritty win like that, against arguably the best defense in the NFL, is a great way to start the season.
And if Moore is right, the best has yet to come. Moore lined up across from All-Pro cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and Pro Bowler Kamari Lassiter for much of the game. If he can produce against that level of competition, it bodes well for his chances the rest of the season.
It also isn't nothing that he was Allen's go-to target for most of the game, ahead of mainstays like Khalil Shakir, Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid, and Dawson Knox. It wasn't long ago that Allen supported an All-Pro wideout in Stefon Diggs, or that Moore was a top-10 wideout himself. In 2023, Moore hauled in 96 catches on 136 targets for 1,364 yards (sixth most in the NFL) and eight touchdowns, numbers he's currently on pace to match this season.
