The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a brutal loss in Week 5, falling to the Jacksonville Jaguars with a 19-17 final score in London. Philadelphia looked as though it would escape with a narrow victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but a lengthy kickoff return set up Jaguars kicker Cam Little for a game-winning field goal with one second remaining. The Eagles were without two of their best offensive weapons, running back Saquon Barkley and wide receiver DeVonta Smith.
Barkley suffered a hamstring injury during the first quarter of the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Smith has missed each of the last two games with a hamstring injury of his own. When speaking to reporters on Monday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said he's "hopeful" that both Barkley and Smith will return to the field for this coming Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
In addition to Barkley's injury, the Eagles are now without both Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley for multiple weeks. The team's only healthy running backs are Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele. With Smith out, Darius Cooper, Dontayvion Wicks and Makai Lemon have been operating as the Eagles' lead wide receiver options.
Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Panthers will kick off at 1 p.m.
