Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter was involved in a joint practice altercation with the New England Patriots' field goal unit on Wednesday. This altercation came just one day after Carter discussed his intentions to "bring an edge" to joint practices. "I come out and play my game and have fun and try to play my game and bring an edge to where it gives a boost to the whole D-line, defense, whole team," Carter said, via team insider Zach Berman of The Athletic.
"If I was to get in any altercations, I don't try to start them. I just try to finish them. I just move on with my day." Carter agreed to a four-year, 152 million contract extension with the Eagles earlier this offseason, making him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.
He's entering his fourth season since joining the franchise as the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Eagles will open up their regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Washington Commanders on Sept. 13.
