Falcons Suddenly Linked to Texans' 3X Pro Bowl DE Amid Winning Streak

The Atlanta Falcons are being linked to Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney early on this season.

After losing their first two games of the season, the Atlanta Falcons have responded by winning back-to-back games. The Falcons' last two wins were big ones, too. They first defeated the Green Bay Packers by a 35-14 score and then followed that up by beating the New Orleans Saints by a 45-24 score.

With that, optimism is high with the Falcons as they prepare for their Week 5 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. Now, as the Falcons gear up for Week 5, they are being linked to a veteran defensive end from the Houston Texans. In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Kristopher Knox named the Falcons as a potential landing spot for Jadeveon Clowney.

"The Texans could still get back in the playoff mix, but they could be prompted to send Clowney to a contender for a strong return—which they should be able to get," Knox wrote. "Potential Suitors: Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys." Seeing the Falcons be named a potential suitor for Clowney is understandable. Their defense could use a boost, and bringing in a three-time Pro Bowler like Clowney would provide them with just that.

Although Clowney is 33 years old, he is still effective at this point in his career. In two games so far this season with Houston, he has posted 1.5 sacks and five combined tackles. This is after he had 8.5 sacks and 41 combined tackles in 13 games for the Dallas Cowboys last season.

With numbers like these, he would be a nice pickup for a team that is looking to get into the playoffs like the Falcons. Due to this, it would not be shocking if the Falcons target Clowney as we get closer to the trade deadline. Yet, with the South Carolina native still being a good player, they will have plenty of competition to try to get him from Houston.
