Jason Kelce Makes Surprising Slip-up While Calling Commanders Game in London

Jason Kelce had a noticeable slip-up while calling the Colts-Commanders game in London, with his broadcast partner calling it out.

The past several weeks featured several noticeable slip-ups during NFL star Jason Kelce's broadcasting, including his latest while calling the Washington Commanders game on Sunday. Washington took on the Indianapolis Colts in an NFL International Series game in London, with Kelce on the NFL Network broadcast team. It was a rough day for the Commanders, who lost 30-13, as the Colts' Jonathan Taylor helped power his team to a win with 95 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Late in the third quarter, while discussing the Commanders' chances of mounting a comeback, Kelce accidentally referred to the team by its former name. Moments later, his broadcast partner, Dave Pasch, corrected him. More news: Deion Sanders Pushes Back at Reporter Over Question About Colorado QB Decision "Another great tackle here.

When you're in man-to-man coverage, it just takes one missed tackle, and that can turn into a huge play. The Redskins right now doing a great job of not only staying tight but making the play when the ball is in the receiver's hand and keeping it short of the sticks," Kelce said. "Commanders, you did it," Pasch told him, with Kelce asking, "What'd I do?" "You said Redskins," his colleague said, laughing, adding they'd had a "gentlemen's bet about who would be first." "I almost made it out!" Kelce said after realizing his mistake.

Kelce, a Super Bowl winner with the Philadelphia Eagles, regularly faced Washington when the franchise still used its former name. Kelce played for the Eagles from 2011 to 2023. Washington retired its former team name and logo in July 2020, then played as the Washington Football Team during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

In February 2022, they revealed their new team name and logo, becoming the Washington Commanders. While former team owner Dan Snyder insisted he would never change the team's former name, the franchise did so amid longstanding criticism that the name was offensive to Native Americans, along with increased pressure from major corporate sponsors. Kelce previously had another flub during ABC and ESPN's presentation of the "Monday Night Football" game.

As part of the network's panel of analysts for pregame, halftime, and postgame, Kelce referred to the Philadelphia Eagles as "we" during halftime of their game against the Chicago Bears. After colleague Pat McAfee called him out for repeatedly referring to the Eagles as "we," the former Philadelphia center apologized to Bears fans during the "MNF" broadcast.
