Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart Send Powerful Message After Knicks' Move

Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart shared heartfelt posts after the Knicks made a major announcement ahead of the season.

The New York Knicks’ latest contract decision has not stopped Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart from showing love for the city. Both players shared appreciative posts on Twitter shortly after the franchise announced that extension negotiations would be paused until later this season. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania: "The New York Knicks are tabling all contract extension talks, per team spokesperson.

"As an organization, our entire focus is on preparing for the upcoming season and delivering another year for our fans to be proud of. As a result, we will not be negotiating contract extensions until later in the season and will remain solely focused on preparing for the start of the season."" The pause affects Towns, Hart and Miles McBride. Towns posted “Always Love 🧡💙” alongside images celebrating his connection with New York.

Hart shared a shorter message on X: “NY 🧡💙.” Neither post directly addressed the contract situation, but both offered a show of appreciation for the city. The timing matters because Towns recently expressed frustration with negotiations. The center said he wanted a deal that would help keep the team together while also valuing him.

He added that those goals were “not close to happening.” Reports have put the Knicks’ offer at four years and around $200 million, below the maximum extension available to him. Towns remain central to New York’s success. His size, shooting and rebounding give the Knicks a unique offensive presence, while his partnership with Jalen Brunson helped fuel their championship run.

Hart is just as important in a different way. His rebounding, hustle and versatility often set the team’s tone. In my view, the posts are a positive sign of the players’ connection to New York, but they do not resolve the financial questions.

Their affection for the city should not be mistaken for an agreement on contract terms. For now, the Knicks want basketball to lead the conversation. The challenge will be preserving trust with key players when negotiations resume.
